8 tips to prepare for Pregnancy

Do not overheat your body in spas and saunas.
  • Take 0.5 mg of folic acid in supplement each day, if possible for three months before conception and the first three months of pregnancy. Folic acid will help in preventing neutral tube defects in your baby.
  • Reduce coffee intake to two cups a day at most. Instead, change to green tea which contains antioxidant to boost your fertility.
  • Alcohol consumption should be very moderate or avoided altogether.
  • X-rays are to be avoided.
  • Be careful around fish. There are some, like swordfish and tuna, that have been found to have risky level of mercury.
  • Avoid unpasteurized cheese, pâté and smoked salmon, and salads, cold meats and sandwiches that have been sitting under a deli counter because of the danger of listeriosis. Always aim for fresh, unfiddled-with foods.
  • Sensible exercise is a good idea and so is sex in general !
